Electric

Amy, old friend and former union electrician, joined me this fine May day to kick out the electric. I had run the wires, but needed to attach the boxes and a few other whistles. What a joy to flick a switch and have the lights go on and even better to spend the day working with good company.

Inside Work

Amy and I have been putting in long hours, thus the slow-down in posts.

After finished the exterior, we moved onto electrical, plumbing, denim/cotton insulation, and interior vapor barrier. Today we are getting in the interior walls, and it's looking great!

Photos soon.

Kids in the Loft, Lights that Turn On

Getting a few things taken care of. Thanks to neighbor to the west, Eric, for helping me put the final connections in place for the electric.

Thanks to neighbors to the east, Jamie, Joselyn, and Anthony, for coming by with their curiosity and for frequently asking, "Are you going to finish today?"

Nice sleepovers with friends. Comfortable to be in, just need to get to that trim if it's going to be gotten to. Already slipping into living-in, makes sight of the to-do-list a little murky.

Buen dia

All day doing precision cutting for the interior wood walls in the loft. PHewph. Long day. Not sure I want to do this through the house, and am considering some kind of plaster still. Had a nice talk with a plasterer. Doesn't seem like plastering is such a good option...

Gracias a Armando para me ayudando con la electricidad hoy conmigo. Pronto habrá luz... en la noche. Y máquinas de coser...
Thanks to Armando for checking the electric lines with me today. Soon there'll be light... at night. And sewing machines...

This photo shows how I have begun setting in the thin wood in the spaces between the studs. Since I still need to put in a nailer, I have yet to attach the pieces, but at least now they're cut to fit. Once I get the nailers in that'll make the process much quicker.

Here you can see how I've set pieces to the left of each space. These propped up pieces will need special cuts to fit the exact space. More fun... ahead.

Again, none of these are installed yet. I still need to put nailers in. But this give an idea of what's done so far.

Overall, something like this:

Help from DAnielle

making the day so much better. Thank you for helping me get the ceiling orange-oiled & bees waxed.

Moved oven/stove in.
Did fire show for mom. (Propane in the face, unintentional.)
Rearranging floor.
First meal in the house.
Taping along studs to prepare for inside wall, still unknown.
Pigtails and other electrical guesses.

Electricity - Cold Days

Getting my sh-t together, long overdue, in regards to the electrical layout. Got some great ceramic pull chain fixtures, some with receptacle plugs built in. Cut the rigid insulation where need be, drilled the holes so the wire can run through. I still need to get a circuit breaker box. A lot more to do.

Rigid and Electrical

It's as if there's electricity...

Just chugging along. As I run out of material, the rigid foam puzzles become more and more fine tuned, er, scrappy.
